Chapter Twelve

We know everyone is keen to find out when the Formal will be! The first step is for students to vote on whether they'd prefer the Formal held before or after the HSC exams. Once that vote is finalised, the Parent Committee will contact a number of venues to find out what dates they have available.

Formal venues can book up very quickly, so we can't choose a date first and then find a venue — we need to find a suitable venue with an available date and work from there. This means the Formal may end up being held on a night other than Friday or Saturday if that's what's available at a suitable venue.

As soon as the venue and date are confirmed, we'll post the details on the website so everyone can start planning!

That decision will be made by you as a year group! First, you'll vote on whether you want the Formal held before or after the HSC exams, and whether you want a sit-down dinner or canapes — either option will have a DJ and a dancefloor.

Once that decision has been made, the Parent Committee will start looking at suitable venue options and checking availability. When we have a few options to choose from, they'll be put to a vote on the Year 12 Instagram page. This means everyone in Year 12 will have a say in choosing where your Formal will be held.

As soon as a venue is locked in, the tickets will go on sale.

We don't know the exact ticket price just yet, as this will depend on the venue and the final arrangements. At this stage, we estimate that tickets will cost around $150 per person. We'll confirm the final cost once the venue and other details have been organised.

Of course! You can bring a plus-one to the Formal. We'll provide more information about how to register your guest once the details are confirmed. When you buy their ticket you will need to know their parent contact details, medical needs, and dietary requirements.

Make sure you are on the year group Insta page — alerts to voting and updates will be posted there.

Year 12 Formals are alcohol-free events. Formal venues do not provide or serve alcohol at these events because of the legal and safety responsibilities involved in serving alcohol to school-aged students.

Year 12 is making the decisions about the Formal! 🎉 All the major decisions will be put to a student vote through the Year 12 Instagram page. This includes choosing between the different options available to you.

The Parent Committee's role is to make those options happen. We'll provide the alternatives, gather the information you need to make a decision, and then follow through on the option that Year 12 votes for.

So, the Formal is your event, your choices and your vote!
